I started Beth Devitt Photography when my boys were young. I was a stay at home mom who didn’t have much, if any, extra time on my hands, but I knew that I needed a creative outlet for myself. I picked up photography as a hobby when my oldest was born, so I decided to see if I could help other families capture their favorites as well. Immediately, I was in love.
Working with families became such a blessing. I was able to meet some of the best in town all while capturing such simple yet important moments for them to have frozen in time. Over the course of the years that followed, in addition to families, I photographed birthday parties, graduates, clothing, jewelry, horses, models, headshots, ballparks, sports cards, and the list goes on. Photography took me further than I’d ever imagined it could.
However, fast forward to the summer before my oldest was heading into high school and life had become extremely full with a lot of changes. It was full of mostly good things, but I felt like I needed to take a step back to make sure everything stayed balanced in our lives. So, I pressed pause on the photography business and it remained that way for a few years. As we all know, time flies when you’re having fun, and our family was having a lot of fun together.
I never truly stopped taking pictures, of course. Each of my boys play baseball, and I’ve always loved taking pictures of them playing, so I leaned into that even more when I wasn’t working with other families. And as I sit here typing this post, I’m in Atlanta for the last travel tournament of the summer with my oldest. His last summer travel tournament ever! We’ve been traveling with him since he was eight years old (I know that’s crazy). But, each and every tournament becomes its own amazing little trip with so many memories to wrap up with it. So much quality time has been spent over the years running from state to state, field to field, concession stand to concession stand.
And so now in the summer before my youngest starts high school (how in the world?!?), I’m thrilled to share that I’m returning to this beautiful world of photography that I genuinely adore. I have some new ideas, and I’m feeling refreshed and ready to begin creating again and helping you and your family capture moments to hold onto before they slip away too quickly. Maybe I need a distraction from how quickly my boys are growing up? Whatever the case, it is a beautiful reminder of how quickly life moves along, how important it is to hold onto the memories, and ultimately how lucky we are to have so many memories that we want to keep forever. So, I’m excited to be returning.
I’m excited for what’s to come and for all of the opportunities that will head my way. It really is the little things that make the world a better place, and helping families hold onto some of those little things is a true gift. I am so grateful to each of you for being here along the way!
