This has been a disheartening week, and it is in these times especially that I often feel helpless and fearful for our younger generations. I do not look forward to the day when my young children begin to learn of the cruel side of life. So, I find myself resorting back to simple acts of kindness to make myself feel better but also to sprinkle just a little bit of goodness into the world. I feel that it simply cannot hurt.
Since some things are just way more fun with friends, I invite you to join me. I am encouraging you to do at least one ‘c’ind thing in this month of October (Oct). That’s right – One Cind Thing in OCT. You may choose to do just one ‘c’ind thing this month, you may prefer doing one ‘c’ind thing each day or something in between. It truly matters not. The sweet goodness that we will sprinkle out into the world will travel, so simply proceed however it makes you feel the best. I’ve mentioned before how much our family enjoys practicing sharing ‘c’indness, and you can read more about it here.
It doesn’t need to be a lot either – the smallest things can make the biggest differences. For example, my family loves the subs from a local grocery store. So, just last week, I was waiting for my order while another customer was placing hers. As she described one of the subs that she wanted, I simply commented that it sounded so delicious. She turned to me and explained how she had been at a different grocery store the week before and the man taking her order had made her feel awful for what she had chosen to have put on it. She went on to say that she decided to try a different store in the hopes of having a better experience. It was then that I realized how my comment, insignificant as it had initially seemed, made a huge impact on her. We ended up having a nice conversation while our subs were made, and more importantly, my children got to witness how it truly pays to be nice to others. I think I took away as much peace from those few moments at the sub counter as she had, and now I’m even sharing it with you. It really took no effort for me to be ‘c’ind, but it paid off immeasurably.
Stop back to let us know about your ‘c’ind moment and use the hashtag #onecindthinginoct so that we can follow along and fill our days with a little bit of goodness too! You can share a story or an image – whatever you’ve got!
Spread the love. Spread the word. Spread the ‘c’indness.
